Thanks to a hiker who was in the area who heard the cries of a donkey who fell into a 10 foot hole at an abandoned mine in Rhyolite Nevada last Thursday afternoon, the donkey who fell into the abandoned mine by accident, the hiker called 911 to ask for deputies of the Rye County Sheriff's Office for help in rescuing the donkey. The rescue party that came to get the donkey out of the hole saw that the entrance of the abandoned mine was on top of a mountain, the rescuers had to go by foot on the terrain to reach the donkey who was by himself in the bottom of the mine. The rescuers used a rope to get a hold of the donkey who was suffering from dehydration and hunger. Firefighters from Beatty Nevada used their firefighting equipment to hoist the donkey out of the abandoned mine safely. The donkey is in good condition after the rescue. Officials have learned their lesson by covering the entrance of the tunnel where the donkey fell down. It has not been determined how long the donkey was inside of the abandoned mine at this time..

That poor donkey, I'm glad he was rescued but I have to wonder why a donkey would not have been missed by his owner.

Some people don't actually care about their animals, like you and I do! @rebelann

It's a good thing someone noticed the situation in time and called for assistance to save the poor donkey. I am glad that they have done something to save it despite the challenges they face in saving a donkey that could also endangered the lives of the rescuers as well. I hope they would finally cover that entrance so no one will be in the same situation as the donkey.

I also hope that the county officials in Nevada take action to close the opening of the mine.

These abandoned mine shafts are a great danger to people and creatures.

It is one my concerns that there are many abandoned mines around the western part of the U S that can cause a lot of tragic events to happen.

I do not wish for any animal not to have water or food to eat for any period of time.

@kobesbuddy I know what you mean since it is terrible for any human and animal not to have any water or food to have for a brief period of time.

I know how you feel since I am concerned when an animal or human cries for help.
