Shopping trip down town.

Seagull on fence post by frozen Minster Pool.

I went shopping down town again today. I was also going to get my repeat prescription, so I wanted to waste a bit of time again. My Mum was going to come to get some money out of the bank and get some Christmas presents and other things for Christmas, but she changed her mind and decided not to, mainly because her foot was hurting. It was frosty and nippy out so I wore my coat with the hood and lovely warm fur lining. I'm snug as a bug in a rug when I wear that! I also wore my gloves. I was going to go to the Bistro no.19 opposite the Cathedral for my lunch and Mum said she'd treat me to lunch. I went to the toilet by the Cathedral first, then I went up to the new Tesco and got a cucumber. Mum wanted some strawberries but they didn't have any. Next I went to Holland and Barrett and got some soy chunks, some grain coffee and a bar of sugar free chocolate for my Mum. After that I went to WH Smith and looked for Doctor Who magazine but they still didn't have any in. I didn't think they would but I thought I'd check anyway, just in case. Then I went to the market and the fruit and veg guy was there today so I got some strawberries from the guy on the market. Next I went to the Bistro no.19 for my lunch. I went and ordered it first. I asked for a Garden Breakfast, and a cappuccino with soy milk. There were two tables by the till, but one was high with very tall seats and one had chairs that had plastic backs that had spindles and looked uncomfortable so I went off to look and see if there was a table in one of the other rooms elsewhere, but the only free table I could find was reserved so I went back to the room where the till was and took one of the uncomfortable seats. My cappuccino with soy milk came almost immediately. A very pleasant dark guy came in and sat on one of the high seats on the table directly opposite me. He had a woolley hat on and he took it off and revealed his bald head. He mimed "My head gets cold!" at me. I gestured to my coat with the furry lining, and he laughed! He had a constant grin on his face! He and his companion, a white lady, had what looked like chocolate milk shakes, and he had a cake slice. Because the seat back was very uncomfortable I got my coat with the fur lining and put it over the seat, then when I lent back it wasn't so uncomfortable. When my Garden Breakfast came the dark chap gave me the OK sign, and I gave one back. You know, when you make your finger and thumb into an O shape. His lady companion said, Oh, yes, that looks nice. They seemed to have put it on a plate that was a bit small for it though, and it looked a bit cramped! I had 3 rashers of fakin' bacon (that's vegan bacon to you), 2 quorn sausages, about 5 mini tomatoes and 5 mushrooms, 2 hash browns, 1 fried egg, a little pot of baked beans and a slice of toast cut in two on the diagonal. Soon after the dark chap and his lady companion left and a group of four mature ladies came and took their place. They started talking about a Rolling Stones concert some of them had been to. I didn't think they looked like the types to be Rolling Stones fans! The Garden Breakfast was delicious, but it had come sooner than I thought it would, and I finished it at 1:30pm. I usually go and collect my repeat prescription at about 2:30pm, so I still had another hour to waste. I had thought of going to get my repeat prescription, and then come back down to Iceland afterwards, but now I thought I'd go there first to waste some of that hour. But first I went to the toilet and then I went and sat by Minster Pool for five minutes. Minster Pool had frozen over! There were no ducks anywhere to be seen, but there were plenty of seagulls who landed on the surface of Minster Pool and then skidded! It was quite funny to watch. I took a photo of one of the seagulls as it landed on one of the fence posts. I suppose you can call it a fence post. I went to Iceland and got some chicken and prawn paella and a pizza style garlic bread for my Mum, and some frozen diced onion for me. Then I slowly made my way up to the health centre. Someone held the door open for me on the way in and on the way out. It didn't take long and soon I was on the way home. I went St. Michael's Road way, and there was still some frost on the paths round there. I guess that street doesn't get much sun. I was very careful not to slip. I got home and told my Mum all about my day. I unpacked everything and sat down to have a rest. I didn't need anything for dinner because I was still full from lunch. Mum then said she's thinking of going down town tomorrow to get some presents and other Christmas things! If we do she wants to set off early so we can get back by 12:00 midday, or at least by 1:00pm so that we don't have our lunch too late. I can see that happening! Anyway, I hope you've all had a nice day, and I'll "see" you later. Picture: Seagull on the fence post by a frozen Minster Pool.

We don't get snow and ice here but I can imagine it would be very easy to trip sometimes.

@sharonelton And as you get older, you're more likely to do some damage to yourself.

Yes, or slip and slide. I slid on my bum several times on the ice. That's why I don't like going out in it.

That is a great photo of that seagull. Now, I know you did not go to Iceland the country. Is that the name of a restaurant? I hope you have a wonderful weekend,

Thank you very much. I think so too! Iceland is a food shop with a lot of freezers! Thank you very much. You too.

I love the photo. I am a huge fan of wrought iron fences. You've had quite the day/

@sharonelton I loved my trips to southern U S due to all the wrought iron. It was on balconies as well as for fencing. I had some not so sturdy wrought iron fencing on the front of my property.

@sallypup That must have been very nice. We've never had wrought ironing fencing. We've always had hedges and wooden fences!

@sharonelton Thanks. We are doing so-so. My husband is in a lot of pain; and there's nothing I can do about it.
