Poinsettia is associated with Christmas probably because it blooms around that time. We had many poinsettias in our garden but now we have none. They have disappeared for reasons unknown. But I have happy memories.
I used some of the poinsettias to make this Christmas candle arrangement a few years ago. I bought this candle while on my tour of Europe in Germany.
Atleast the photographs take us back to happy memories of yester years.
Any Christmas memory to share?

@allknowing Is it hard to care for them? I thought it was hard to let their leaves turn red but caring for them is easy.

@rsa101 They just need a bit of water. The garden was neglected when I had met with an accident and we could not rely on maids to take care of it

@allknowing - I have no idea. I sold the half apartment I inherited to my brother. We are not in good terms, I do not know what he has done. The last time I have seen my brother was at the Notary office to sign the paper and get my money.

Someone gifted me a scented candle and I used it until one of the cats toppled it and broke the container.
Just keeping them and not using them?

@Fleura I had picked up some shampoo bottles from hotels where we stayed while on our tour . I collected them and brought them home. They remained unused for a while but eventually I used them all but kept the empty bottles

There you go again I had used a vending machine and not a slot machine.

I use the silk poinsettias; I have two cats and I vaguely remember that I read that they are poisonous for cats if they chew on them. Another problem is that with the economy they are outside my budget. I do remember though, that when I was growing up my mom planted one in our backyard where it would be protected from too much sun, and it was watered regularly. The thing bloomed year-round and grew to be over 8 feet tall and around 5 feet around. Of course, it was also the yard the dogs got to run in, and the male lifted his leg on it regularly. When we moved and tried in our new home the plants would bloom for the Christmas season, but they would die around the first part of January.
Come to think of it, the one that grew to 8 feet tall was also planted almost on top of the pipe leading to the septic tank. Our stuff may stink, but the plants in our back yard loved it!

@BearArtistLady Humans may be "Bull Sh-t" but it is their Sh-t that helps Poinsettia grow
