A strange rescue story from Norfolk Virginia that happened eight days where a seagull who had his leg entangled in a fishing line was trapped in a streetlight which a concerned eyewitness to contact the Norfolk Police Animal Protection Unit and the Norfolk Fire Department to work together to rescue the seagull. The fishing line where the seagull was trapped also got wrapped up in a streetlight which made it hard for the seagull to fly away safely. The Norfolk Fire Department firefighters used an engine ladder and scissors to cut the fishing net to get the seagull out of danger. After the seagull was free from its danger problem, the firefighters took the seagull to the Tidewater Rehabilitation & Enviornmental Education where the seagull will be treated for injuries that he sustained in the incident. The seagull likely got caught in the fishing net when the seagull was in a water zone.

It's a good thing the sea gull was out where he could be seen. He might never have been found.

@celticeagle Humans are being asked to be more careful dealing with animals when they throw away trash outside of the trash cans.

I'm sure many birds get tangled in fishing nets. It's good this one was saved.

There are many reports of seagulls and other birds getting into traps from fishing nets that are in the water.

That was a double whammy. Leg in a fish net then trapped on a street light. Animals can get twisted up in man's equipment. Now the sea gull can fly happily back to the sea.

I know if I was a seagull, I would be happy to fly away instead of being trapped in a net.

I share the same feelings that the seagull is now free to fly away after he was rescued by the firefighters and police officers.
