What Will Christmas be like THIS year?

Last Saturday evening my father-in-law passed away after a very brief illness. On Sunday my husband jumped on a plane to go be with his family. My older daughter and her fiance decided to make the 18 hour drive down late Sunday night (1am Monday). Visitation was on Tuesday, funeral Wednesday. All done very quickly.
My daughter and her fiance headed back home late (12am) Wednesday night arriving home around dinner time last night. Well before the storm hit.
When I spoke to my husband on the phone he said he would be home Saturday. I told him Saturday is Christmas Eve, that is when our little family has our holiday dinner. So he said he would come home Friday (today). I tried to get him to drive home with my daughter but he said he didn't want to do that long drive, AND he still had people he wanted to see. Really? This was his 4th trip down there this year!
So, he is expected home tonight. Yes, tonight. In the middle of a raging storm? Will his flight be cancelled, or delayed? Will he make it home tonight? Will he make it home for Christmas at all?
I am hopeful that the airport is doing its best to keep the runways clear and useable. There is no storm where he is flying out of. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Merry Christmas for those who celebrate the holiday.
P.S. The picture is of our tree this year.

@kaylachan He wouldn't be in either. He has family down there. That is why I think he did this on purpose. He seems to prefer his birth family to the family he created. He could have come home yesterday but didn't. I warned him there was a storm and he poo-pooed me. He never listens to me.

@patgalca Safety first. I am sure he'll do his best to make it home for Christmas. No one likes spending Christmas in an airport or hotel.

@Deepizzaguy It seemed to pick up again. And we've had bursts of lightning. Something I've never seen in the winter time. Not a pleasant storm. I did go out to take some garbage out and the wind didn't feel bad, wasn't really snowing just blowing, but very cold.

@patgalca That is good news to know since the winds in my area will die down tomorrow afternoon.

Your tree is beautiful. I hope your husband makes it home safely. I am always so sad for people who lose loved ones at this time of year. I am sure it will affect every Christmas they have in the future...remembering that he lost his father during the Christmas season. I just hope he gets home safely to you now.
