Mom Is Having a Sleepover

Well, it looks like we will have Mom over for the weekend, or at least for the night. Her pipes are frozen and she is worried she may have to take a crap and not be able to flush to toilet. Isn't that the concern of all seniors? Oh well, it will be fun and we have the spare bedroom for her. It's Friday night anyway before a three-day weekend and we were going to splurge for some Chinese food. I guess she will enjoy some of that. Because she will be with us our $70 usual might turn into $100. But it is what it is. At least she will have a place to poop with a flushing toilet and food to boot.

I think the concern of all seniors is NOT being able to take a crap. You’re a good son, Jim.

I am not so sure. My grandfather skipped my wedding because he was concerned he would not be near enough to a toilet. Of course, he was in his 90s. lol

Was it required for you to tell us how much more you will spend with your mother being there - just saying.

Sure. Why would I not include it? It is part of the story, and I always mention how much we spend on food we have delivered in. Have you only now begun to read my posts? lol

Glad your able to provide a place for your mom until she can go back home. It's 1 degrees here & very windy, hoping we don't lose power. It's been snowing pretty good here as well. Stay safe and warm!

@porwest Yeah I can understand that, that's with any parent or grandparent for that matter. I'm glad she was happy with the situation, is she back home yet?

@Blondie2222 She is. Sort of. We moved her finally into my sister and brother-in-law's basement this past Saturday. Something that had been planned for a while.

It worked out well enough and we had a good enough time. I won't say there weren't "irritating moments." But with moms (or let's just say parents) there can be. I will admit my mom does have hearing issues and some cognitive issues as well, so that can add to some of the "frustration," shall we say? But it was good and she was happy about it and glad we were able to accommodate her.

Well that's mighty nice of you to have her over! Poopage without any problems is very serious stuff . . . on that note I hope your Chinese food has good fiber content .

@porwest If the Chinese food goes through "your" pipes a-ok, then it's probably ok for the pipes in your bathroom .

I actually have no idea what the fiber content is, but I would assume the onions and peppers and rice have enough? Either way, I HATE poopage problems. lol

Chinese restaurants are like ants. They are everywhere. What's stopping you from having a Chinese dinner?

You and wifey are so nice. If you're buying Chinese, I"m in! We had planned to have Chinese tonight for Christmas Eve; but we can't get out of our driveway. Sigh. Stay safe and warm.

@LindaOHio It is like I told her when we last discussed about it, it's basically a play on Paella. She said she loves paella. So I asked then why would she not like my kielbasa shrimp dish? Because paella is basically rice, some sort of sausage link, chicken, clams, shrimp and my dish is pretty much the same exact thing minus the clams and chicken.

Oh man. Stuck, are you? That stinks. The food was very good, and as per the usual we have a ton of leftovers. I sense a kielbasa shrimp fried rice dish coming soon which should make our little friend in New Jersey's head spin. lol Stay safe and warm as well, and Merry Christmas. I hope you can get your Chinese dinner soon.

She was disappointed we had no REAL Christmas celebration, even though I explained to her several times our Christmas engagement is on the 14th of January. lol

She was. As things go, with her hearing issues and some cognitive issues, certain times can be a bit trying. But we made it through and so did she, and she was quite happy we took her in for a spell.

It's nice that you have a spare bedroom for your mom. Hope you all enjoyed the Chinese food. I'm just curious, what kind of Chinese food did you eat?
