Each night(morning really) when my grandson is ready to go to bed he makes sure all of the cats are inside. Last night he had all the cats accounted for except for our oldest cat, Silver. He is a gray male that is probably 14 or 15 years old. He has been around since my daughter saw him coming toward her outside back so many years ago now. He was just a kitten. She picked him up and that was it. He's been with us ever since. We were all worried. It was 12 degrees out last night. I doubt an animal could live through the night in that cold. As the hours went on we got more and more worried. What's become of him? We have talked about his age and the obvious outcome several times. Not wanting the reality to actually be upon us. Not Silver. Nope, not Silver. My grandson had asked me if he could check in my closet and was doing so when my daughter called up from downstairs, "I found Silver!" Where was he? He had climbed down into the one old and warn couch in the living room and was napping. When he climbed out my daughter had words with him. So he's safe and sound and still kickin' it. The old scamp.
