Making Cut Out Christmas Cookies

In a few minutes, I am heading to the kitchen to make my last batch of Christmas cookies for the season. When I was a little girl, my mom found a recipe for Gold Medal Flour Cut-Out Sugar Cookies and made them every year. They're a LOT of work because first you make the dough, and have to refrigerate it. Then you have to roll it out, use cookie cutters to make different shapes, brush them with egg white and decorate them with different colored sugar and sprinkles, etc. I used to help my mom make them and then when I was a teenager, she handed the recipe to me and it became my job to make the cookies every Christmas. When my kids were born, it was a tradition I carried on with them. I still make these cookies every year. My mom died in 2021 and this is my second Christmas without her. She loved Christmas and she instilled that love of Christmas in me also. So every time I make these cut-out Christmas cookies, I think of her and it brings me closer to her at Christmas.
