When it comes to love and relationships couples can sure go through mixed emotions. So, this selection of my favorite emotional songs deals with the ups and downs of romance... Elton John's tune "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" is a song which describes the emotion of falling in love with someone. I bet many couples who got engaged over the holiday season feel that love. So, time to take a look at this week's playlist selections: Comments, musings, your own favorite emotional songs and trivia welcome... 1. "Can You Feel the Love Tonight"- Elton John -The video song by Elton John was used in the Disney movie "The Lion King" and won an Oscar in 1995. Two of his other contributions - "Circle of Life" and "Hakuna Matata" were also nominated at those same 1995 Academy Awards in the same category. 2. "I Hate Myself for Loving You"- Joan Jett -Now there's a mixed message of emotions! In spite of those feelings, it was a top ten song for Ms. Jett in 1988. Fun fact: Joan has made many tunes by other artists hits, but she most identifies with her song "Bad Reputation." Hmm, is Bad Reputation life imitating art... maybe, but her reason for choosing it was that she wrote the song myself. TRIVIA CHALLENGE ***Now for our trivia music challenge for those who like to play along. See if you can guess these selections. Words in "quote marks" provide valuable clues! Name this week's tune, artist or facts: 1. This "painful tune" was covered by the "First Lady of Rock," a singer who dominated the charts in the 70's. The "song title" is the "opposite emotion" of one expressed in a "similarly titled song" by the artist "John Mellencamp" (which was the trivia answer in our last quiz). Anyway, things get so "bad" in this heartbreaker of a song the girl is reduced to begging even though her ex has found someone else. You might know this "female singer" from a number of equally heartbreaking covers she did, among them: You're No Good," "Poor Poor Pitiful Me," "Blue Bayou," and "When Will I Be Loved." -Can you name this performer and her heartbreak of a song? 2. "Love Her Madly" is a song recorded by this "California band" who became one of the most "controversial and influential groups of the 60's" thanks to its lead singer and front man. One performance characterized by lewd and lascivious behavior, profanity, and public drunkenness" at a New Haven concert, led to the singer's arrest. He eventually "fled the U.S. for Paris" while he was awaiting trial. "He died there in 1971" from a possible drug overdose effectively ending the band at the height of their success. The group left behind a string of successful hits including: "Light My Fire, L.A. Woman. and Roadhouse Blues". -Do you know the name of this band who recorded such a passionate love song? There's a "thin line between love and hate" so I hope you navigate those clues to some correct answers. If you're stuck and need additional hints just let me know in your response. I'll be glad to supply one. Or, as Sam and Dave would say, "Hold On, I'm Comin." Thanks for reading and responding to my music post!!! I will return with a new edition soon. Hope you can wait till then, lol. Stay tuned... P.S. HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL YOU MUSIC FOLLOWERS... Source- Wikipedia & songfacts.com

I kinda know at least one but 4walls already hinted to that one. I love Blue Bayou by both artists, the first artist was the most famous of the two. Oh, there's no doubt about the possibility plus he was drunk as a skunk. Here's a song I that I fell for due to circumstances at the time:

That tune was originally done by Little Anthony & the Imperials. Linda does a great cover on that one. Yes, Jimbo went down that dark path may a rock star travels and could not find his way back. That is a terrific choice and one I was definitely considering when deciding on titles using the word "hurt." Such an amazing voice to reach those high notes. Frankie Vallie would be proud! Complete Trivia Answers: 1. Linda Ronstadt- Hurt So Bad 2. The Doors And how about this for an emotional love song...

1. But that was Little Anthony and the Imperials first!!! Of course, Little Anthony and the Imperials didn’t have Danny Kortchmar on guitar in their video. (Didn’t have Linda either, for that matter!) 2. I have no clue. Hmm, let me open the Doors and see if the answer is outside? Have a merry Christmas!!!
