For those who celebrate (and are on my side of the world), I like to wish you a very happy, peaceful, and Merry Christmas. If you don’t celebrate it religiously (or secularly, for that matter), still have a very happy, peaceful, and merry day. Give yourself the gift of peace of mind for a few minutes today! As you can see by the photo, I painted the back yard so everyone would think we had a white Christmas.

It’s funny, isn’t it. Irving Berlin writes a song and suddenly people in the Mojave Desert want it to snow on December 25!

According to the weather forecast, this won’t be around much longer. By the New Year’s Eve weekend it’ll be 60F here!

I did open the door to my house for the first time since Thursday this morning. If you remember those Peanuts comic strips where Charlie Brown got bundled up then fell and couldn’t get up because he had so many clothes on, that’s about how I was dressed when I went out.

I started the car (it’s in a garage [detached at that]), brushed off the shelves, and loaded it up with critter food. The squirrels were elated. Hey, if they’re gonna come out in this stuff to get a peanut the least I can do is throw on six coats and go give them one! And I had no trouble finding my mittens. They were right where I left them!

I did take the phone with me. I fell and broke my ankle once in snowy conditions (eight years ago next month), and I learned then!! I’ll get back to the “cold” song countdown tomorrow. Meanwhile, I hope everybody finds peace under their tree or in their Christmas stocking…or just in their hearts.

I believe the song I’m dreaming of a white Christmas was written not to far from me. It has been pretty warm here the past week which I have loved. A bit chillier today and raining though.

There are two places that claim the song: Phoenix and La Quinta, California. (See, misinformation isn’t a product of the Twitter age.

I loved those Peanuts comic strips. I do not miss at all not having snow this year and I hope the temperature will keep warm also for the end of the year. Good luck to you for a "heat wave" coming to you.

It’s snowing right now, but it’s also warming up. This isn’t like the 1994 thing where we got 16” of snow THEN went into the deep freeze (-22F/-30C, the coldest recorded temperature for Louisville in history). That was brutal. I didn’t put as many layers on today when I went to feed the critters.

Snowing again is not good, but at least it's not horrible cold. It is too warm here, it is not normal, 52 F at the end of December is not what we expect here.
