I enjoy Dr. Seuss. He was/is? a genius. I think the kids have every one of his books. After the Dolly special I did some more roaming around Peacock and found "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". Not the Ron Howard production with Jim Carey but the 1966 animated version narrated by Boris Karloff. It is so fun to watch. Gotta love the Dr.s take on it all. And that poor dog, Max.
In case some of you don't recall this is the story of the mean creature with a heart "two sizes too small" who disliked seeing all the Whos in Whoville enjoying the holiday and so he steals their Christmas right out from under them. But, they go on with the spirit of the season and he even gets invited to the mixer.
Boris Karloff narrated the story and did the voice of the Grinch. Kids around the world loved his performance as Frankenstein and wrote to him expressing such compassion for the character. After he played Captain Hook in the Broadway "Peter Pan" in 1950 he started Caedmon Records and recorded a series of Lp records of him reading tales from such authors as The Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Anderson, and Lewis Carroll.
It took CBS 10 months to complete production on the Dr. Seuss cartoon and it cost $315,000. Overall it took 25,000 drawings to make the cartoon realistic and, more than 200 backgrounds. Dr. Seuss was so impressed with the production he was excited to get going on another of his pieces, "Horton Hears A Hoo".

That original "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" is a Classic cartoon. It was and still is one of my favorites to watch each Christmas. Also, many years ago I found a hard bound book based on the cartoon in a book store. I bought that. Just truly good.

The late Boris Karloff along with the late Lon Cheney and the Vincent Price was my favorite horror actors of all time.

I just loved the original cartoon. I also love the movie with Jim Carrey playing the Grinch but haven't found it anywhere online to watch, I hope you had a very Merry Christmas Day.
