Black pepper

We grow our own pepper and even sell it. Pepper grows on vines and it needs something to cling on to. The vines that we have are clinging on the coconut and areca nut trees. We see birds flocking around and that means it is time to harvest it. The pods are kept in a bag for them to get fully ripe - they turn red. The pepper is then separated from the pods and kept in the sun for drying. Pepper is a condiment that we use on many of our dishes apart from the fried eggs that we have - the salt and pepper containers are always there on the dining table. Do you use pepper in your food items?

I don't know much about pepper. Thank you for sharing about it. Yeah, Pretty and I use pepper in quite a bit of our cooking. (I have a grinder and buy whole peppercorns for it.)

I too have a grinder. My niece from the US gifted it to me when I was there with them spending a fortnight.

@allknowing Grinders are nice. The pepper is fresher that way.

Is it capsicum you are referring to when you say red pepper or chilies?

Yes, sometimes I will use pepper to cook. It is one of the important seasonings. I am surprised to hear that birds will flock around it as I don't know that they are interested in peppers.

Oh wow this is so neat to see. We use pepper all the time but it’s in a grinder and Shredded finely into a tin. I’ve never see it in the stages like your photos show

We use black pepper mostly. You would think the pods would be too hot for the birds to enjoy.

If we delay a bit we will be left with no pepper. They love pepper (lol) It's possoible they may just swallow pecking at the pods.
