Alachua County Sheriff's Office Deputy Nick Aldous answered an emergency call from a concerned person that a hawk was entangled with a snake on the streets of West Palm Beach Florida on Tuesday afternoon. Normally the police officers are known for breaking up fights between people on occasion or catching crooks during shootouts. Officer Aldous admitted that he was scared having to break up a snake that wrapped his body around an injured hawk by untangling the snake away from the hawk at the risk of being bitten by a snake, the two animals were able to go on their separate ways with no one getting hurt. I do not blame Officer Aldous for being scared having to remove a snake who may or not have been poisonous since snakes are known for being killing their prey by squeezing them to death.

He had good reason to be concerned. The snake could have bitten him and it was likely poisonous.

@RubyHawk Same with me. I would stay away from a snake at all times myself.

@Deepizzaguy Most people don't know a poisonous snake from a non-poisonous snake. I wouldn't pick up either one.

That would be scary. Trying to save a wild animal has its pitfalls as it is but an added one to maneuver makes it very hard indeed. They should get hazard pay.

I agree with you that the police officer deserves higher pay for doing dangerous work dealing with dangerous animals.

I'm glad both animals lived. I hope that snake finds plenty of rats and mice to eat.
