It Is Always a Bit Spooky

We are all family, of course. We all come from the same genes, granted a bit mixed. But sometimes when we look at old and new photos of people that were and people that are... Some of the resemblances are just spooky. And I don't know why I say that because we ARE family and come from the same gene pool. Still, do you ever find yourself seeing people from your own family past in people today? On the left is my dad's dad. On the right is my nephew Ian. I think they have an uncanny resemblance. Do you see it too? To me, he could be his great-grandfather.

I do see it. They look very much alike. As for my family I don’t believe so, we don’t look very similar.

@porwest Probably my ancestors didn't inter marry. Years ago when people were isolated they married cousins and other relatives.

@RubyHawk That would have nothing to do with it necessarily of course. Genes need a good mix in order to make good looking people. Have you seen King Charles? lol

Claudia resembles me (when I was young) and Tania and her eldest son Daniel resemble my late husband a lot. Different skin color but the same eyes, the same mouth.

Even for Ian, my nephew, he has Asian in him since his dad is from Laos. So, his skin is a bit darker and his eyes are more Asian than his great grandfather. But yes, lots of similarities.

@porwest And your grandfather was very handsome. Do you resemble him in any way?

@RebeccasFarm lol. Having a little bit of modesty in life makes life much less serious and fun.

Thanks. As for me, all I look like is a mangled pile of poop.

They are certainly alike. Vince has four brothers and his Dad had four brothers. There is a photo of each of the five and you could just about swap the photos and not know the difference.

They do look alike. Now that I'm older, I'm the spittin' image of my mother unfortunately.

That's natural for any family member may take a resemblance or similarities with the past family member for they're family.

Yeah. It is why I always think it is funny we say it is spooky, because at the end of the day, it all just sort of makes a whole lot of sense. lol

Yep, you got that right. They have the same facial features, I have had my moments but I think the strangest and spookiest if that there have been times when I have suddenly spotted a person say, at one time a lady I did not know but she looked just like my mom. Now that is really odd.

My daughter is a splitting image of my aunt (my dad's sister) when she was in her 20s. I mean an exact copy. If I were to put my 20 year old aunt's photo next to my 20 year old daughter's photo, it would be hard to tell them apart. I told my daughter that's a great thing, because my aunt is in her 70s now and is still as gorgeous as ever.

It makes me marvel at life. And also the qualities that manifest both physically and in behavior or personality is just awe-inspiring.
