Just In Case You Wanted to Know

It is one thing the news media always left out of their reporting about Trump. Trump never took a salary when he was president. He donated it all back to the government. And there is one other thing the media won't put front and center about something revealed in his tax returns once they were released. Trump has never collected Social Security even though he is entirely eligible and entitled to receive it. Just a couple of things to think about.

Of course not. They can't paint him as the devil if they admit he did something good or useful or helpful.

@porwest of course they aren't going to know the truth they're going to listen to whatever the Sheep hurt or tells them and that's whatever their Force down their throats. The mass population doesn't care about the truth they just care about what they're being told

@thislittlepennyearns Worse than that, I think for whatever reason all the troubles now are also being blamed on Trump, and of course we all know very wrongly so.

You are right about that. The sad part for me is that people SHOULD know the truth, but don't because the media held it from people, and the people they held it from have no interest in knowing it.

There is no documentation for the 2nd half of 2020’s salary being donated. I’ve read in a few places that he lied about donating it and did some shady tax stuff with it. Honestly I don’t care enough to find out if it’s true or not.

In nearly every single article or commentary I can find, including from liberal publications, organizations, or bloggers, Trump made good on his promise to donate every single penny of his salary to various causes and organizations within the government, and did just that. There is absolutely no record of any shady tax deals or dealings, and we now have his taxes to show that. He never did anything illegal regarding his taxes. Some may not like what he paid or did not pay. But that's to take up with the Congress who write the tax code. NOT the person who OBEYS the tax code THEY made law. Not only were the donations of his salary above board, they are documented, and are a matter of public record. So, he did not lie about what happened to the money. I know you badly want to believe otherwise, and that is your prerogative. But you cannot call someone a liar and at the same lie about the lie. Truth is not defined by what one wants to be the truth. It is defined by the facts that support what the truth is.

Despite his spokeswoman’s claim, returns show he donated nothing to charity in 2020

@NJChicaa I am not talking about fake news. I am talking about documented public record. You won't win this one, so don't try. I have the records. And no, I am not sharing them. They are easily found. Because again, it's public record. What you are doing is also, again...deflection. It speaks to nothing at all on the premise of the post. However, it DOES speak to my point about most people's thoughts about Trump not being based in reality or facts, but on personal hatred.

I knew he didn't take the salary, didn't know about social security. I figured he made too much. That being said, we need to stop talking about all the 'bad' he supposedly did. Hell, other presidents have been through the impeachment process, and were never successful.

@porwest That's sad but true. We know that Trump put his time in and then some. Although the social security administration says the latest you can claim your benefits is 70. So.... that might play a role in it. Which of course we can't honestly know.

Under the law, anyone who pays into the social security system and fulfills their required 40 credits for eligibility is entitled to collect benefits regardless of income or wealth status. That aside I agree. I think people are weighing too much on what they have heard, or what they feel—look, his demeanor was disagreeable. I will give anyone that. But what matters is policy and I think it is a shame that so many people fail to even recognize all the successes because their judgement is clouded by bias and personal feelings. We can say all day long he said thing we did not like. But to deny the successes? Look what that cost us? We have Joe Biden now, and no one can say with a straight face things are going well under him.

@porwest I agree. When the media paints a person as bad, everyone jumps on the bandwagon.

There is a lot about Trump that many people are not aware of simply because the media was more interested in reporting that he was the devil instead of the man he was, and of course, the president he was. I have long said that I wished he had a bit more tact. But he was who he was, and if I am to judge him, it will be on his record and what he did for America.

It becomes a "for whatever it is worth" kind of a thing. One of the things I TRY to do, and I don't think I am at all successful at it to be honest with you, is get people to look beyond their bias. Look beyond their news source of choice and SEEK OUT what they don't know. Or at least to raise a brow to some things they think they know—or certainly is told to them, and go see for themselves if they have the right information or idea or not. I used to always tell people who wrote bad things about Rush, that based on their comments clearly never listened to him, that ONLY spoke on what other people said about him, "Listen to him for a week and then come back and I'll hear you out." I can better accept an opinion I disagree with if it comes from someone with at least a basis for it, than someone with a baseless opinion. Most people do not dislike Trump. They dislike what he was portrayed as. They dislike what they THINK he is. If people actually listened to his words and observed him on the whole (not the edited, dumbed down version they get from the mainstream media), I think most people would be surprised to learn about him in a much different way and see him in a much different light. Most people that talk about him negatively cannot cite a single policy he had. And even if you tell them what they are, they deny it anyway. Even if there is verifiable, certified proof. I do my best. But again, it is for whatever it is worth because most people, no matter what you do, will believe what they want. The sad part is that I talk good about democrats and bad about republicans equally—but yet ONLY because I keep an R after my name, it is automatically assumed I am FOR everything republican and AGAINST everything democrat. That is not how I work. That is honestly not how REPUBLICANS work. But I do keep in mind this IS how democrats work, and so that is where this thought process comes from. Sorry for the long response, by the way. The last thing I want you to do is roll your eyes at me, "Can't this windbag just keep it simple?" lol I tend to have a lot to say. Not that anyone needs me to tell them that.

@porwest I agree, most of the ones that dislike him will not take the time to see the good he has done. Not saying I voted for him or I would vote for him, but he did a lot of good for our country. And I appreciate you bringing these issues to light. To those who choose to read about it. As you know, many have their minds made up about him. No matter what. And no problem about the long response. I read each word.
