I Did It My Way

Realized that I was slow in completing all the tasks which I must do, one was giving the exterior door of our laundry area some protection coating, I was in a slight panic. (Our handyman was supposed to do the task for me, but he never turned up.) It took me two weeks to figure out that I must use the same approach which I had often used in the past: mentally prepare myself first by telling myself the same thing over and over, 'I will do that task. I must do it and I must complete it (by such and such a date)!'. A few days before that, I began to prepare all the tools & materials. The night before that D-Day, I went to bed reciting to myself again and again: 'tomorrow when I wake up, I will devote myself to do that task!' Of course on that day, I procrastinated for as long as I could . The thought of cleaning/washing/preparing etc that raw timber door which should have been coated 2 years ago was so off-putting, so unpleasant. (It had been exposed to the weather since then, after the previous door was smashed and unsaveable by the burglar, who happens to be the son of our good neighbor.) Anyway, the task is done now. That door is now properly coated with 4 layers of oil which I had bought from Aldi a while ago to oil the deck of our garden shed. (That door won't lodge a complaint against me for using some decking oil for it I hope!). The door is now quite presentable. (It was smudgy/patchy before with dirt & rain marks, not too different from a chimney sweep boy's face!) Any task on your list which you have been procrastinated for a while now ? --- one of our cats when he was one year old.

Yeah, I need to get around to looking up what the word procrastinate means. I’m doing better right now than I have been. I didn’t make a new year’s resolution or anything, but so far, so good this year.

I climbed onto the roof just some minutes ago, to fix a downpipe - so far not so good, but until the handyman comes, at least there is duct tape taping the arm of the downpie down (it keeps singing & (presumably) dancinging in the wind, drives us bananas here).

Paper clutter. I have to read through and get rid of papers that need to be destroyed and I am not doing it yet.

your reply made me think of the pile of old student notebooks from my kids. They are grown up now, and it is funny reading their old writings from primary schools. So hilarious! (But I can't keep them all can I!)

I have to repair a bed sheet, I have to sew back a piece of lace that has detached.... I am going to do this tomorrow. The door will not complain about the oil and not even the oil because you used it on the door.

@LadyDuck When I climbed up the roof before, I was so frightened... ten minutes later, down on stable ground, my legs were still shaking. (The thought that if I didn't do something to that loose downpipe on the 2nd storey, sooner or later, I might have to pay much more... That handyman says he will come, but don't know when!) By the way, how long did it take you to paint that room?

I so sincerely hope so (I keep looking at that door and try to see if it looks OK to normal eyes...)

Must do so, or I will never do anything... As it is, I have two more tasks to do in the next 2 weeks, one is a bit too time and energy consuming - I doubt if all my mantra reciting would help in that case!!!

I used to slightly dislike that male cat with respect to his older sister. Reason: he thinks he is a dog, and have a tendency of dirty the house to mark it. He also had a very weak tummy wrt his sister (I was told male cats tend to be like that!). These days, he follows me around at times like a dog since I feed him (both cats are my daughter's). He was holding on to my daughter's leg there in the photo. He used to follow her around when he was a kitten. (As an adult, my daughter's love for him seems to scare him.)

I´ve been using ableton-DAW, music studio. I have many unfinished arrangements. At this time, I´m concentrating on just one song and I´m figuring out how to start and finished this one song from start to finish so that don´t end up with an unfinished work

It is awful isn't it, thinking of some important task which we must do, but .... we can't do it because of this or that or this or that...

You still make me laugh!!! I'm happy you finally got that project done. You haven't seen me for ages, because all I have been doing are projects one after the other and quite often all at the same time. Relax and enjoy your efforts! Adorable kitty cat

One of the first things I did was searching for you. When I realized that you were happy enjoying yourself in real life, I was happy to continue mylotting.

@DianneN Whereas my arms and legs are aching after I worked like mad with tidying up the house, in/out. I haven't finished the task yet, but at least I have begun the task .
