Hi guys,
Hope you all are doing good. I am doing well too.
I am not able to regularly be here as juggling Job Search and Studying. Anyways, I got some time today so thought to write a post here.
I found out that today 19th January is celebrated as "National Popcorn Day".
The history of Popcorn dates back to 1948. The corns used are of different variety. Only one variety of corn is able to become Popcorn and that is Zea Mays Everta.
In 1948, small heads of Zea Mays Everta were discovered by Herbert Dick and Earle Smith in the Bat Cave of West Central New Mexico.
This corn variety has small ears and the kernels burst when exposed to dry heat. There is evidence of early use of Popcorn in Peru, Mexico and Gautemala as well as other places in Central and South America.
Popcorn were not sold in Theatres in 1920s as they were termed as "being messy". Later on in 1980s, the Microwaveable Popcorns became available in the marketplace.
Since then different varieties of Popcorn were available in market like Salted, Buttered, Cheese and Caramel.
I personally like to have a mix of Cheese and Caramel Popcorn whenever I eat it. I eat very occasionally though. I eat when go to theatre and sometimes at home.
Let me know which variety of Popcorn are your favourites and how often you consume them. Also you get readymade or make it at home. Have a good day!! Take care!!

I love popcorn and I used to make it myself with some dried sweetcorn brought from a health food shop. I would melt some butter in the bottom of a saucepan until it was very hot, and then put in a small amount of the dried corn. After a while the corn would start jumping about and turn into popcorn. If you are making your own popcorn this way you have to be careful that you don`t burn the bottom of the saucepan, and make sure you put a saucepan lid on because that corn goes flying everywhere.
