Can you squat on the floor cross legged?

After my accident a few years I no longer can do Yoga that involves bending, twisting and squatting cross legged. I only do breathing exercises which can be done sitting on a chair. I do physio therapy to strengthen my lower limbs - just four movements. Sometimes I do not feel like doing them and then I experience stiffness and pain in the knees and when that happens I am back doing those exercises What exercises do you do? I can only do it to a point . . . my left knee is a bit painful. It seems to do with my knee cap area - not a joint issue. I used to be a figure skater and have injured it. I'm still trying to figure out the best strength exercise for it . . . but I do many stretches and walk daily.

@allknowing I find that strength training helps the most . . . particularly strengthening the muscles above and below the knees.

You can resort to physio therapy for your knee. Walking is the best o keep our heart going.

This isn’t a stretch I do it’s just comfortable when sitting on the floor to sit this way. It was called Indian style when I was a kid now it is criss cross applesauce since my kids were little.

@shaggin I have restrictions after my accident but I believe that it is not how much one has but what one makes of what one has is the route to happiness.

I can bend, twist and squat cross legged, but my favorite exercise is walking. With my husband we try to walk at least 6,000 steps a day.

Yoga, cardio, bike riding, swimming, walking, and various sports. It’s important to keep active not to stop exercising. Glad you get back to your physiotherapy.

Weights do help one build muscles. I could do that as my arms are fit and fine
