Even after being ahead by 2 goals and managing 3-3 score at the penalty shootouts, it was a heartbreaking moment for both the Indian (Field)Hockey Team and their fans (like me)
when the New Zealand team win by 5-4 finally.
So many preparations, so many hopes dashed!!
The Indian fans were expecting a great performance after the Bronze at the Tokyo Olympics 2020(held in 2021).
Alas, that wasn't to be!
In the end, the Australian coach Graham Reid lashed out at the performance of the team, without any sugar coating ::
And I am feeling really bad about the loss!!

We expected at least a Semi final or Quarter Final finish.

Winning isn't always a thing to get for there are so many factors that affect the sports bout. But there's a saying that everyone is already winner in their own way of playing.

Well you are right!
As a player, it is their duty to keep on playing with good spirit and best efforts.
Let's hope for better days for Indian Hockey ahead!

I don't follow hockey. My father broke his nose with that hockey bat before I was born. In memory of that correct nose that I did not inherit, I refuse to watch or learn that game. BTW, my father played cricket too, just that tight pants were trending then, and you know what happens when you bend down to bat...yeah..it tore ..the stitches...came off at the right position, with all his juniors watching...nobody said a word...this I was a witness of, my dad was working then. I feel so smart I did not do anything like that.

Lessons were learnt and now Men and Women Cricket players wear pyjamas.
The Hockey Stick and the ball both can do quite some damage!

Well, harsh as it may seem but we have to accept it.
New Zealand showed more nerves and won the match.

Initially I was very disheartened.
Slowly I am feeling normal.
But yes, it is disappointing for the team also which is 6th ranked in the world, got Olympic Bronze in Tokyo Olympics, had big time money spent through sponsorship and Government support.
Plus a high profile Coach Graham Reid.
So yes it pinches but well, Sports is just Sports.
Win and Defeat are a part of it all.
