Marble vase - a memory

We bought this marble vase years ago at an exhibition. We got it cheap as it had a defect though not visible unless on looked at it closely. This vase was scooped out from a block of marble, chisled by hand and if it did not have that defect it would have been sold at a very high price. The art collectors perhaps rejected it. Someone's loss someone's gain It goes well with our house - after all we have marble chips on our exterior walls and the roof while the interiors are given a marble paste finish Have you had this kind of luck in your purchases?

In India there are temples with statues that have been hand carved from rock thousands of years ago

I guess that was a good buy already. With the plant on it, the defect would not be noticeable anymore.

@allknowingSince you are not collecting works of art, I suppose it is okay and still looks good because the flaw is no longer visible.

I’ve never heard of anything like that carved from marble. That’s very neat!

That marble vase looks really nice. All that matters is the fact that you like it.

My Mom had one in her living room, I think she had a jade plant inside that vase.

@LadyDuck The vase is Makrana marble. I know Italy is also known for soft marble. I had bought this while there

@allknowing No, she bought because she liked the shape and the colour. Those marble vases are pretty common in Italy.

I have yet to make a purchase for my basic needs like print cartridges at a bargain price. The last bargain purchase I made was buying a clipboard online for less than $10 dollars which a very good wooden clipboard.

I have been lucky to get a few items passed down from other family members.
