We have been trying to have some sort of "date" once a week. Yeah we spend the majority of our time together, either at work, with the kids or otherwise. But that's different. We try to actually have a date, where we sit down and eat together and then do something a little out of our normal every day routine.
Today we got done with work earlier than I thought we would, so we dropped she child off with grandma so they could spend some time together (school was delayed two hours because of the storms and then all absences were excused, so both kids got to play hooky today) and then went to Freeport. Freeport is about fifteen or twenty minutes from where we live, and it just happens to be where our favorite pizza joint is.
So we snuck off to Freeport for a lunch date. We got a 12 inch pepperoni pizza with extra cheese and we each got a sweet tea. We spent $17!
We split the pizza and were stuffed by the time we finished it. But we we're happy and it was delicious. There were no complaints at all about lunch.
After that we went to the consignment/antique store and spent a good 30-40 minutes browsing there stuff and getting ideas for the house. We are gearing up to very slowly and as cheaply as possible remodel the house. So I love getting ideas. Plus I love antique stores. I love seeing all the older stuff, and seeing what weird stuff we can find.
After that we drove through the town and went by the high school that Chris went to.
So for under twenty bucks, we had a good meal and had fun exploring a little bit.
When's the last time you and your significant other had a "date" night or lunch "date"?

@ifa225 How old is she? At some point you have to have a break. We do a lot of things with our kids too. But you have to get a break.

During the spring and summer when it's warmer we go to a place on the beach and eat at a nice place. They have gator bites and they are delcious.

I guess ours would have been coming home to our house-sit from feeding birds at another place. We stopped off at a little old church, called in to at friends' at the next town then had lunch at a small hotel in a tiny town near to our house-sit.
