Every time the gate bell rang Preiti our pet dog would accompany me to the gate, wage her tail and wait till I dealt with whoever was at the gate. We lost Preiti almost 4 years ago. Lately I notice Peppie our pet cat has been doing that It started with the guy who brought fish but now he keeps me company each time the bell rings and even meows at those waiting near the gate. Peppie is a great companion - let's not worry about him chasing that poor little male kitten Billu.

That is a sweet way for a pet to show its owners that they are thinking of them. I suppose that escorting you to the gate and attempting to alert you when someone is at the gate is already a concern to their masters for their animals.

@allknowing It shows that he has bonded with you and tries his best to show that he cares in his own little ways to please you. It also shows that there is some intelligence that he knows to let you know that he is thinking of you when you are there.

Poor Billu, I hope that Peppie will at least let him come to have some food.

This is the fourth day and both Billu and his sister have not come. Billu's sister only came with Billu but never on her own

@LadyDuck I have the same question. They seem so happy with us and one fine day they just disappear. I am used ot it now and do not panic when that happens Atleast yours is still with you. Peppie has stayed so far - four years now

@allknowing I hope they are fine. My cat went missing one day, I wonder where he goes when he does not come home.

Wow I can’t believe it’s been 4 years already that Preiti has been gone. Does that name have an American meaning? I’m thinking it sounds like pretty?

Isn't that neat that he has taken over welcoming guests?

You will find that you are Peppie's person, and no one had better mess with you. Petey is that way, and he lets it be known that he doesn't want to share me with anyone else. You should have seen him today when he saw my face when I got home. I did a face fall onto the asphalt and have a black eye, a fat lip, and a skinned-up chin. He was frantic, checking the door every few minutes in case the "human" that hurt me came to the door. I couldn't ask for a better protector!

Sorry to hear that you had a fall but that display of your pet showing concern is priceless
