My mother was having a conversation with my grandmother the other day and she just had to tell me something that is just...so silly So, everyone gets cobwebs in places, especially those that you don't really notice. My mom was mentioning how we sometimes have to vacuum the cobwebs on the ceiling To which led into a small argument because my grandma said that cobwebs are not created by spider. To which.. she is right. Because the spider has to abandon the web to make it a cobwebs But no...no she meant it in the way that cobwebs were never spiderwebs. That they are 2 different things. I...what? She thinks that cobwebs are just a way dust collects. That it is the dust that makes it like...sticky??? What??? So my mom tells her that she knows for sure they were once the homes of spiders but will look it up anyway I wanted to look up as to why they are called "cob"webs Basically, the name for spider started as "Atorcoppe" which basically means poison or venom spider home Which then changed to "Attercoppe" Then it was shorten to coppeweb Which then over time it was just made into cobwebs I think in the 16th century So...my grandma for 75+ years of her life didn't know that cobwebs were once...spiderwebs I would say she needs to dust some cobwebs in her brain, but...they might be the only things holding her together
