Have you thrown a book away midway?

Not literally but I did put away a book I had begun reading last week. It is a book of adventure stories. I have read the first two stories and began reading the third one yesterday. I should not say it's boring but the long winding background descriptions burdened the pace. I did pick up some new words, phrases, expressions , idioms that raised up my language, but at the end of the day it felt like waste of time. Tomorrow, I shall pull some other book to feed my mind.

Only once, but I intend to try reading it again after I read all the books I really enjoy.

Not really, but there are some that I go to the midway point thinking, I will finish them some day. I mean they were interesting enough to get to that point, so they probably have some merit. I have one I have had at the midway point on my kindle for probably at least a year. Periodically, I go to it and read a chapter or two. Hopeully, I will eventually finish it.

Maybe I am old fashioned in doing it but somehow I find a pleasure in holding a book in my hand and reading it. So, though there is a huge library available online I love to read a book on paper.

I have a life long love story with books. But still, there are some books that I have felt they are not for me.

I am a book lover like you. However, we know we can't read all books we lay hands on.

So I've never thrown the book but Yes I have DNF books before. I did so in January the book just wasn't for me and thats okay. I was our book club book and not books are going to be for someone. It's better to put it down and step away then force your way through it when your not invested in it any more. Most people are mood readers so if its not calling for them they are not going to want to read it.

Long descriptive passages used to be very popular in novels but most readers can't be bothered with such long-winded discourses nowadays.

I agree, there was a time when long descriptive passages were popular in novels. But modern taste s are different.

I didn't get to midway. I was asked if I could review it. They should be glad I didn't.
