I Promised a Payback!

Thanks for enduring the trip down memory lane. Here’s your reward. If you’re keeping score, it’s currently Florida state parks 5, Chuy’s 3. Today I traveled not too far from where I was yesterday (Jacksonville) to the nation’s “oldest city” (as in settled by Europeans), St. Augustine. There are no words to describe how much I love this city. Maybe because I’m old, too. Today I went someplace I hadn’t been before: Anastasia State Park. The park is on the Atlantic Ocean past the lighthouse museum (which I have been to before), and it’s stunning. Thanks to cool weather (about 62 degrees F) and the threat of rain (which came to pass just after I left) the place was even less crowded than it would be during the off season. Yes, I was one of “those people” out there on the beach in a hoodie (but I had jeans instead of shorts ). But why not? Look at that gorgeous Atlantic Ocean (with a rainbow over it, one of two that faded in and out before the clouds took over)!! Look at that bird without a care in the world!!! My pedometer says I walked three miles today. Between the beach and the Navy base I can believe it. It was nice to visit the old duty station, but believe me, Anastasia State Park was far more beautiful…even on a cool, overcast day!
