~for my son.
He is now in grade seven and his former school did not offer that. It was a very stressful journey for me (so my stress reliever is the baby boy
). Just a bit of information, my son has mild autism. His former school offered programs for children with disability but they are mainstreamed with the regular classes
Getting to junior high is another story though since only few school offers the same program. There are some but the cost is way up high I cannot reach it
.
Fortunately for me, I found a smaller school that accommodates them. They have a program as well but it is separated from the main school which I did not really like. So I asked the school if he can try it out first at the main school. He is now in a regular school, but we have to study more and cope with their activities and lessons. Very hard but we are trying.
One thing I noticed with my son, his maturity level is getting there. He is still socially awkward but I know he likes being with his classmates. He was able to sing with his group mates Infront of the class, story tell with a classmate and he painted and do some artworks. All of those I did not imagine him doing right now because he hates it.
He is a work in progress.

It sounds like he's doing better than you thought he would. I hope he continues to do well in school.
