We Have So Much to be Thankful for

In this day and age, we have so much to be thankful for. We no longer have to fetch our own water. We no longer have to make candles for lighting. So many things we have nowadays. When there was a big party they would put up an inconceivable amount of candles to light the ballroom and/or dining room. No electric lights until the late 1870s. We just upgraded our internet service to fiber optics from the cable we did have. I was amazed to learn about fiber optics and how behind and slow the cable we had was. Thomas Edison lived from 1847 to 1931. During his life, he held 1,093 patents. He is responsible for the automatic telegraph, the carbon telephone transmitter, the light bulb, the phonograph, the microphone, batteries, incandescent lamps, the mimeograph machine, and so many more inventions. We have come a long way.

@RubyHawk ..........It's amazing how fast technology changes. There are certain things I like to keep up on. Others not so much.

We never realize how much of an inconvenience it is when we lose something that is a complete necessity, but also a luxury because we take it for granted. We have advanced so far and so fast and it is really really outstanding.

@celticeagle Incredibly interesting. There was a light bulb always lit that still was from Thomas Edison times.

Edison sure was a genius! I never really thought about them having to make the candles if they wanted light way back when. So much we take for granted due to never knowing any different.
