Feedback on Ibotta

United States

I am preparing to teach a free class at my church about how to save money on groceries. Groceries are so high now that I think it is very needed. When I talk about "groceries" I am including food, health and hygiene products, as well as cleaning products. I used to teach "coupon classes" back when my kids were younger, but so much has changed now about coupon use that I am generalizing the class to give people lots of tips on how to save money in many ways other than just coupons. I have done some research and am trying the Ibotta app. If you don't know what it is. it's an app you put on your phone that tells you which items you can buy and then when you send in a photo of your receipt, and you get a certain amount of money back on your purchase. You know in advance how much you will get back. I need feedback to share with the class so it's not just my opinion of this app. Does anyone here in the US use Ibotta, and if so, what do you think of it?

If I may, you should make a handout sheet with each of the different items listed out with a blank area under it so the people can take notes if they don't understand something or are afraid they'll forget what you tell them. (The hardest part I had with teaching older adults about using the new smartphone was them remembering what I told them and the steps to do what I explained. I made a sheet that gave the name of what I talked about, the basic steps to do the thing they asked the most about and left them room to make notes as I explained.) Good luck with your classes.

@DaddyEvil Thanks. Me too. When I taught the coupon classes, I once had a woman cut her grocery bill in half after taking my class, and she sent me a thank you note and flowers! That was rewarding, and a nice surprise!

@DaddyEvil Thank you for the suggestion. I do exactly that in my classes. I will give them 2 handouts. The first one will have about 15 to 20 Bullet Points with just a topic and then plenty of blank area for them to take notes underneath. This is usually 3 pages. The second handout will be just one page, and it will list all of the apps I am going to recommend, as well as websites that I think will help them save money.

@sjvg1975 Are there phone apps or websites in India that help people save money on groceries and other things that they purchase at stores, either online or in person?

I use Ibotta every time I shop. I love the app, and make good money from it. Connecting my PayPal address to the site ensures quick and efficient deposit of my funds when I need them. I find the app very easy to use, and they offer numerous coupons from many of the top brands
