To get up from a fall

As on gets older the first casualty are the knees that cannot handle a fall. And when that happens one cannot get up without assistance What if there is no one around at the time of the fall is of concern. So much of advancement in every field - even landing on the moon - but this small issue is totally neglected and can result in great discomfort, embarrassment and frustration. Any solution?

There are no solutions. When Mom fell and she was home alone, she crawled like a baby to the bathroom and helped herself to get up grabbing the border of the sink.

@allknowing I scolded her, she had her phone she had to call my brother, she "did not want to disturb".

I wish there is a solution when one falls to the ground. Other than the embarrassment, the injury it can contribute can be bad

Just have to be very careful. Always try to have something to hold onto. I always reminded my Dad to do this. Falls can be very traumatic.

@allknowing I had one weak and painful knee replaced, totally. It doesn't hurt any more but I still have problems trying to get up, even out of the chair sometimes....

My mother in law has bad knees due to having bad hips that she waited on getting fixed it caused her to walk differently to avoid pain and it ruined her knees.

@allknowing if they get bad enough that is possibly what could happen to her.

Walking differently is not as bad as falling and not being able to get up

I fell on the ice last week. I couldn't get up. I was in my pyjamas and slippers, it was not a good time to step on the snowy verandah. The solution was to row myself backwards on the wet ground until I reached the door. Then my hubby heard me yelling and came and pulled me up. Falls happen and there comes a time when we just have to be extra careful. The first time I fell and discovered I could not get up by myself I crawled on my hands and knees to a small tree and hauled myself up on that. My husband was not within hearing distance. The biggest shock was not the fall but realising I could not get up. You have my full sympathy.

Those were some experiences you have had. I have fallen twice and both the times there was help around.

We can get things to wear now that can call for help. Some will do on their own

@allknowing I have fallen enough times but eventually got up most of the time on my own. When I needed assistance I would let others that I know help but if no one around I would sit for a little bit and then get up.

@allknowing You are right on that. If I can I have to sit a little bit and get my bearings till I can figure out a way to get up and be able to stand again.

There is an alarm button which one can wear at all times. Also never be without a phone in one's pocket.

We taught some of the disabled I worked with to get to the nearest chair and pull/push themselves up. A good idea unless there are no chairs.

For me, the title seems having deep meaning. For me, it feels like falling from anxiety or having mental health. But I am working towards it now. Means going back up.
