I just read what we would need in case of aliens or zombies around.

It seems that everyone is worried with the UFOs that have been seen (and destroyed) in the US and Canada. And I read an interesting and rather funny paper about what you should have with you should we have an attack of zombies (or aliens). The funny part is the all of them are common sense things we should all have just in case any natural disaster occurs. And that includes lack of electricity, heavy rain or snow, earthquakes. I remember my close encounter with hurricane Charlie, years ago. I was in Orlando waiting for Marcela (Dixie´s oldest daughter) to go with me to Disneyworld. I was alone in a resort and Marcela had taken me to the supermarket before going back to work. She left me there and said that when she came back during the weekend the first thing she´d do was to stay hours in a jacuzzi we had there. So I bought salts and those liquids that make bubbles. And then theTV started to show how Charlie was approaching. And I prepared everything for the zombie attack. I had the experience of not having electricity or even water in my country during a mayor earthquake. So I filled every pot with water except for the ones where I cooked, grilled and fried all the perishables we had bought for one week. I had a lantern and discovered that the small bathroom did not have any window so there I installed food, enough to drink, my book, a chair and my ciggies although it was probably forbidden to smoke inside the resort. So friends, in case of aliens or zombies, do as I did. Stay in a windowless room with food, booze, ciggies (should you smoke as I did then) and a good book.

That's what I would do, and did last year when we thought we would be hit by a tornado. I carried a quilt and pillow and placed them in the bath tub, then brought a gallon of water and snacks and my flashlight. I also brought paper, pen and a book. My power went off and I stayed in the bathroom but the tornado passed us by

I can´t use a bathtub any longer (had mine taken off and installed a shower). But I could put there a comfortable sofa to sleep there if needed.

@RubyHawk The bathroom downstairs is big because it has the washing machine too.

@marguicha If you have a large bathroom, you could. My bathroom isn't that big, but the pillow and blanket in the tub worked very well.

Iimprovised then. But I had been through earthquakes in my country. And although nothing happened to me, I knew what to do.

@wolfgirl569 Up to what just happened in Turkey, I thought that tornadoes were worse. Still I think that what happened in Turkey (and in Haiti years ago) with earthquakes have a lot to do with how houses are built.

Indeed. I would want to hide myself away as much as I possibly could. I think the psyche would start to stray if I was in a windowless room for very long.

That is so funny! You did really well to be so prepared. Re an alien invasion: Nobody knows what aliens would be like or what would be the best way of coping. It's all just conjecture anyway.

I knew how to be prepared because I live in a country where we have earthquakes all the time. As for aliens, I am more frightened of human beings now.

@JudyEv Exactly. Now that Leticia is not working here any longer, I don´t dare go for a walk alone at my own neighborhood.

Any second bathroom? If you don´t, probably you would have to cover the window with something as it is done prior a tornado.

I have thought for a while that human beings are much worse than aliens and zombies put together.

Glad to hear that you were so well prepared. I'm not sure it would be enough for a zombie or alien attack! :-D

Our country is always visited by natural disasters like typhoons. We have a ready preparedness kit which contains Water, Food, Battery-powered or Hand-cranked Radio, First Aid Kit or Emergency Kit, Lighting, Sleeping bags or Blankets, Sanitary Items or Personal Hygiene Items.
