The missus and I worked our 3-hour shift at the RV Show at the state fairgrounds today. Prior to arriving at the fairgrounds, we had breakfast with several members of our camping club at a locally owned restaurant nearby. Being at the RV Show is always great fun as we get to see all the latest models of campers and motorhomes, as well as company booths selling everything from wines to cutlery to battery powered scooters. This year, there was even an outfit there selling pontoon boats, which we call party barges. While we enjoy looking, K and I are not in the market for a new rig. We have too much invested in getting our current camper all fixed and ready to get rid of it now. Do you enjoy camping? If so, are you a tent camper, or do you have a camper trailer or motor home?

Is that your camper in the photo? I tend to "camp" in the back of my truck or SUV.

The camper in the title photo was the one my granpappy's grandpappy pulled through the Cumberland Gap right behind Dan'l Boone, LOL. Ours is the 5th Wheel shown here.

We used to have an Rv. We traveled on weekends so we didn't go very far, but it was fun for awhile. My son uses it for storage at his home.

Right now, our camping excursions are limited to how far we can drive in a day. We have spent as much as two weeks gone from home, though. After K retires, we plan on taking much longer trips.

The one in the photo is for me, right up my alley. I had never been to an RV show, but there is an RV dealer a few blocks from me, that when I am walking, I often browse.

I love the camper in the photo. If the Beverly Hillbillies had had a camper, this would have been it.

There are campgrounds with horse trails and stables. How does George feel about horse trailers?

We have a caravan which I think is called a camper trailer there. Have I missed something? Didn't you recently buy a lovely new rig of some sort? Maybe I'm getting muddled with someone else.

We still have the 5th wheel we bought four years ago. I think Jim recently bought a new rig. Our camping club volunteers twice a year to operate the Family Campers and RVers Association booth at the RV show at the state fairgrounds in Raleigh. K and I usually take the Saturday morning shift.

@DWDavis I knew about Jim's but I had I an idea you had lovely photos of yours up not too long ago. Maybe it was just photos you put up when you were getting it ready to take away on holiday.

RVTrader.com is a good site to explore what's out there in the used camper market and investigate the features you'd like and what the prices are. Florida is probably one of the best markets for finding used campers in good shape.

I was planning to go camping with my family, but it seems they can't leave the comfort of our house

That is what we like most about the camper we have now. It has all the comforts of home.

My sister and brother-in-law had an RV growing up, and we'd go camping in it sometimes. However, I wasn't exactly a fan.

The enjoyment of an RV is inversely proportional to the number of people camping in it, especially on a rainy day. Our RV isn't huge, but it is just the right size for my missus and me.

I like just pulling my car into a tent spot, spreading the mattress out, and getting a good night’s sleep with the moon roof open (I have a no-see-um screen over it). Don’t know if you’d call that camping.

K and I were tent campers for over 20 years before buying our first pop-up. I've tent camped since I was a kid. Not to mention four years in the infantry, which is like professional camping with weapons. Never much used our shelter-half tents. Now, at our age, and spoiled by the comforts of our 5th wheel, I don't think I could go back to sleeping on the ground.

I'm not a camper, but once spent several days in my aunt and uncle's RV in Lake Tahoe. I loved it at age 12, because it was like a dollhouse to me.
