Went to a New Doctor Today

United States
February 27, 2023 4:44pm CST
I am having an issue that required me to see a new doctor today. The previous 2 that I had seen for this same issue both recommended surgery. I was not happy with that. The new doctor asked me why I would want to have surgery if I could try 2 less drastic things instead. I told him those were my thoughts exactly. So I am happy to have a new doctor that actually is on the same wavelength as me. It feels good to be supported. Do you just go to the doctors you're referred to, or do you shop around to find a doctor you are happy with?

We went on a recommendation and have been really, really pleased with the new practice. There are ten doctors at least there but so far we've always been able to see the same one.

Depends on the situation. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. If I want to hear other opinion I go and see other doctors who I'm okay with.

I always find a doctor I am happy with because if I don't trust my doctor I know I won't recover as quickly as I can. The condition of the mind is one important factor in recuperation, It's always best to ask for second opinions especially if you don't trust your previous doctor,

I’m blessed that I have VA doctors and private health insurance. I can get a second opinion very easily. I’m very thankful you found a doctor who’s not surgery happy.

I do both, I go to specialists I'm referred to, but I changed my family doctor recently because I found a doctor that is much closer to where I live..

I think there are so many doctors that feel surgery is the answer to almost everything, or else they don't want to mess with people so they just forward them on to the surgeons. And yes, I check reviews on doctors and shop around.
