Chaim Topol who played Tevye in Fidler on the Roof died at the age of 87. He suffered from Alzheimer's. I liked him and he was so good in it. I think ohers played Tevye as well but I remember him so well. Here is a picture of him in Fidler on the Roof.
For those of you that are not familiar with Chaim Topol here is a link to get you acquainted with him:

Topol, best known for his role as Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease several years ago, and his condition deteriorated in recent days.

Probably just the movie on TV. We listened to the music in elementary school though, and read some of the the play. Sis and I used to act out the play. She was Tevye and I was all the other characters.

That is interesting that you heard the music for Fidler in Elementary School. How was she as Tevye?

I love Tradition and Sunrise Sunset in it. The last song before they have to leave is very very sad. I loved that movie too and will watch it again because I want to honor Haim Topol.

@Hannihar Oh yes I did understand. My loving Irish Mother explained it to me. She was a very good heart and understanding person.

She sounds very worldly and sounds like she was a very good and caring person that understood a lot of things.

I am glad you saw the movie and yes he was 87 years old and he passed away. Would you see it now and when you were much younger did you understand the movie? There were progroms and Jews were forced out of their homes like Hitler did to them.

@Hannihar I am truly sorry. I am not comparing, not one bit, when I say that I know a bit about horrific things. My husband happens to be blind. He finally was employed in a good job when he was 45 years old. It took that long and a Master's Degree and a call to the governor to get through the discrimination. We've had kids throw eggs at us. Not sure why. And yeah, when I was a kid, some other kids did their best to get me to run in front of a bus. I truly am sorry for your family's sad history.

Welcome to our world. The programs really happened and Jews had to leave their homes. My father was from around that part of the world and my grandparents on my mother's side too were from around that world. I never heard my father talk about his life where he grew up and my grandfather never talked to me about his life there either. I can just imagine that there were pogroms when they were growing up.

Thank you and that is part of being a Jew going. There are so many that hate us and Hitler wanted to rid the world of us and people want us not to have our own country and not defend ourselves and if you ask them I bet they have no clue why they hate us so. So many just follow others that follow others. What you and your husband went through is terrible. People are so ignorant and do not try to understand someone else's pain. Kids are so cruel. There was a boy that lived by me that was so full of hate and he did not get it from his mother because she was a very nice person. That is terrible that there are so many bullies in the world and what they wanted you to do when you were a kid was so wrong and so mean and hateful. Why did they pick on you so when you were a kid?

I just read an article on him by someone that once lived there and lives here now and it was very interesting. I am not going to put the link here because you may not understand it and how they both feel about Judaism and what they believe. That disease is terrible and so sad he has it and so sad that Bruce Willis has dementia. I like those two actors. Haim Topol I am very proud of because he is a very proud Jew and he showed it in his part in Fidler on the Roof. You may not have heard of him because he is an Israeli actor.
