Birthday dinner at a speakeasy

Yesterday was hubby’s 41st birthday. We decided to have a small gathering at a Moroccan restaurant. Hubby tried calling them to make a reservation the day before but no one picked up. Drove by there after work and the place was closed. We made no plan B so were bummed that the Moroccan place was not gonna happen. Called one Italian place we’ve been to before but they were all booked. Didn’t know what to do but then I remembered a place that has a party menu. And it’s family style, which is what hubby wanted. Hubby gave them a call and luckily they had availability. Even gave us a private room. There were eight of us and we chose one of the small gathering menus, served family style. Everything was delicious. I couldn’t breathe by the end of the dinner. The place is called Violette’s Cellar and is kind of like a speakeasy. Aside from the main dining area there are private rooms and in one place you see a bookcase and when you move it away it leads to a big room where you can throw a party. The decor and atmosphere are great as is the service. Violet color is part of the theme, a nod to the name. Our private room had a long violet couch. And the painting had violet in it as well. I’m glad the Moroccan place didn’t work out. Everyone really enjoyed the food and the overall dining experience.
