The average amount of snow we get annually here in Boise is about 18 inches. We are in a valley. Snow falls for an average of about 18 days per year from November to March. It is said not to start planting until you see the snow is completely off the Rockie Mountains which is usually in May. It's the least in the state with Northern Idaho getting anywhere from 119 inches to 13 annually for 27 to 71 days. A lot of differences. Glad I live where I do in this glorious state. I enjoy all four seasons but none of them are extreme, please. The average temp this time of year is 52 degrees. Snow may fall but it melts off by noon usually down here in the valley. On March 9th(Thursday) we got an emergency alert on our mobile phones around 5p. giving us a Snow Squall Warning until 7:15p. with a drop to zero visibility and icy roads. Snow was coming down in large, fluffy flakes. It was impressive and lasted quite a while. Usually, we don't get any snowfall until just before Thanksgiving but in 2008 we got 1.7" on October, 10. Here are a few of our more severe weather experiences here: * We don't usually get snow in May either but it has happened several times throughout the 123 years of weather data available on the National Weather Service website. * In the winter of 1916-1917 we got 50" in December, January, and February which is what we think of as true winter. * In 1985 we had a period of below-zero weather that lasted from December 11 to December 30. The lowest temp recorded was -9 degrees Fahrenheit. * The coldest day recorded in the Treasure Valley was -25 degrees on December 22, 1990. * In 2002 we had our coldest Halloween. It was a chilling 13 degrees. I bet kids were happy to layer on the clothes at that time. Brr! * The average temperature on Thanksgiving here is 36.1 degrees but, in 1996 it fell to 4 degrees. * Here in the valley there is a 28% probability of a White Christmas. This has only happened 22 times in 82 years. That is where there has been more than one inch of snow on the ground Christmas morning. Any extreme weather in your neck of the woods? @celticeagle I'm not complaining about that for sure. I have other things that take precedence right now.

I can remember looking out a second floor window in mid June and seeing snow falling.

We really do get a little of everything that is associated with the 4 seasons here in my neck of southwestern Ontario. The only weather system we never see are hurricanes, thank goodness.

@celticeagle We have windy days here also, but nothing compared to a hurricane, except for the odd blizzard every few years.

We can get some extreme weather. Big blizzards and then in the summer thunderstorms with damaging winds Tornados occur, but not too oftenwide spread damage from them. Nothing extreme this winter.

The only concern about the weather in Lake Charles is very hot weather in the summer and hurricane season which runs from June through November with a rare appearance of tornadoes.

We live in the snow belt and can get really pounded with lake-effect s**w sometimes. We've been pretty lucky this year. The coldest I can remember is 20 below zero.

We have what we call roller coaster weather in Tennessee. Up and down all year long. Until the heat arrives, and it stays for too long. I prefer cold over heat.

Same here. I can always warm up enough but, I can't always cool down enough.
