Thinking about shoes it took me to that choral recitation 'Choosing Shoes'
New shoes, new shoes,
Red and pink and blue shoes.
Tell me, what would you choose,
If they’d let us buy?
Buckle shoes, bow shoes,
Pretty pointy-toe shoes,
Strappy, cappy low shoes;
Let’s have some to try.
Bright shoes, white shoes,
Dandy-dance-by-night shoes,
Perhaps-a-little-tight shoes,
Like some? So would I.
BUT
Flat shoes, fat shoes,
Stump-along-like-that shoes,
Wipe-them-on-the-mat shoes,
That’s the sort they’ll buy.

Right through one's life time is spent on choosing shoes and the poem explains the kind of shoes that exist.
I have worn shoes that did not fit me but chose them because they looked fashionable
What is your shoes story?

We just recited it something like what is called rap now a days but with no music. We had a nice teacher who taught us many of these kind of choral recitations.
Those are stilettos. I have worn them but not that high

I only remember my Mother singing One Two Buckle My Shoe
Oh girl I had every shoe imaginable.
My shoes were stripper shoes. High heeled platform and every color you name it.
Even since teenage years the over the knee black velvet platform boots.
The silver soft kid platform heels.
The metal toed Italian leather cowboy boots.
The burgundy lace up knee high Doctor Martens.
The ruby red heels to go with my hair.
Forest green suede boots to go with a green velvet coat.
Nine West pink patent to go with my patent bag.
All these I recall.
Now I wear mostly only Crocs sandals..comfort.
I also wear Minnetonka suede soft soled moccasin slippers indoors.

@RebeccasFarm I have a few pairs that are languishing - shoes with wedge heels and even those I do not feel comfortable wearing

In our young days there is so much we do - shoes, matching bags, trendy clothes, matching nail polish, ................
I too have given away my shoes and now just have a few pairs.

I sold women's shoes for about 2 or 3 years, It was in California in the 1960s. I worked in more than one city, but spent a year working in the Hollywood store, one block from Hollywood and Vine.

That must have been a great experience helping the Star trying to see which shoes looked good on them. A nice way to meet celebrities
