A bit of a scare this morning.

I was responding to comments on my MyLot posts this morning, sipping away at my first cup of coffee, when a really invasive pop-up occurred. I don't think MyLot was involved in any way. I hadn't clicked on any ads or anything like that.
It was ostensibly from Micros*ft, telling me that access to my computer had been suspended due to hackers, or some such. It was decently written, but there was a "throbbing" graphic in the background, which is something I don't think Microsoft would do.
I couldn't find a way to "x out of it, so I did a hard reboot of my computer, and all seems well now.
Do you ever get really scary pop-ups? I haven't visited any n*ked lady or b*mb-building sites in a long time, so I'm not sure where this thing came from. I also have not been critical of R*ssia in any recent posts.
What do you do when something like this happens? I suppose I should go and delete my cookies now.

Had you accidentally downloaded anything unknown in your email?
I would suggest running an Anti virus scan on your computer to check if any virus or worm is affecting your computer.

I had that happen to me last week, very annoying. I had to restart to get rid of it.

@TheHorse I believe it was, yes. I didn't think about that either. It would not go away when I hit delete.

@JamesHxstatic Very odd. I'm running a computer check with my Norton right now.

I have never experienced something like that before. If to happens I would just switch the computer off and wait for some minutes before restarting it.

I've never had that happen. Did you run a virus scan? I hope all is well by now.

That used to happen to me at myLot a lot years ago when I would myLot on my computer and didn’t have a pop up blocker on. I think it was called a redirect though. I called the number it said to call and have them access to my computer to fix it and then realized it was a scam and quick shut my computer down to get them out of it.
