Amazed to see this emerging cluster of leaves

We have several ficus palms and leaves of some get eaten by a nasty pest that looks like a tiny yellow butterfly It did that to one and we removed all the leaves that were eaten as they were an ugly site. The trunk was left bare. A few days ago I saw a set of new leaves showing up at the top of this trunk. Just that cluster and nothing else unlike what you see below that trunk that belongs to babies that this particular plant had produced. The bare trunk is behind those babies below. The cluster will soon open into lovely looking green leaves provided that nasty butterfly that loves to get at tender leaves does not attack them. Sharing it with you.

I tell you those plants are so ingenious aren't they? They find ways to grow no matter what.

That plant has produced several clusters. If only I could sell them I am no good at selling anything

@LadyDuck I do not use pesticides but spray some wood ash but this does not work here.

@allknowing - I hope not, tender leaves are vulnerable.

Thank you for the detailed story about your ficus palm. I hope the butterfly won't harm the new leaves and your palm tree will grow healthy and beautiful.

It breaks my heart when that nasty pest attacks those leaves.
