This afternoon, we’ll be walking across to the oval for Harmony Day. This was created in 1999, in Australia, to celebrate unity and diversity. My research says it’s now celebrated worldwide. We have a huge representation of cultures and nationalities just in our small area.
There will be dances and entertainment from Indians, Sri Lankas and others. A Japanese dragon dance will be featured and one of our ‘village people’ is going to play the bagpipes.
It’s due to start at 4pm. Food trucks will cater for hungry tummies and generally it should be an entertaining and relaxed day. To finish it off a free film will be shown.
The photo is of a Nepalese band.

It's so nice to know that your place has that kind of celebration, looking forward to having the same celebration in the Philippines, I think we need more of that nowadays, for unity!

We do indeed need more of this. The universe is just one big melting pot of humanity - or at least it should be.

I haven't heard of Harmony Day and it's not marked on my calendar that has tons of other "days" marked.

It seems it's not well-known at all despite what I read about it.
