Good morning from home! I got my latest treat from the myLotters who’ve been so generous to read my stuff. I’ll write about your gift (well, half a payment, but everything helps!) later. Meanwhile, you want the last song on the alphabetical list of my favorites from movies that were not nominated for Oscars for one reason or another. I promised I’d be saying “WHY wasn’t this nominated” a few times over the course of the month. Here’s another case before we head into the top ten tomorrow.
When Doves Cry - Prince and the Revolution
W H Y wasn’t this nominated? WHY? WHY??? WHY!!!!??? They gave the stinking song award that year to Lionel Richie’s “Say You, Say Me” and didn’t even nominate this song???????? It’s hard to listen to “Say You, Say Me” and remember he was in the same band that gave us “Brick House.” 
This might not be the greatest music movie ever made, but it is pretty good. And the music? Wow. If you’re going to torture me for military secrets (none of which I know, other than what CINCPAC stands for 
[Commander in Chief, Pacific Fleet, and hardly a “secret”]), this song won’t get anything out of me. I’ll blab within five seconds of Lionel Richie, on the other hand.
Oh, Academy Award people, how you screwed up royally on this one.

This might not be the greatest music movie ever made, but it is pretty good. And the music? Wow. "Maybe I’m just like my mother . . . " 
I loved this song well before ever seeing the movie . . . yah, pretty crazy it didn't nominated. I mean, I did love my Lionel Richie stuff back then too, but his lovey dovey tunes sure weren't as exciting and danceable as Prince's.

@FourWalls I remember someone on the radio said he puts a bunch of lyric lines in a fish bowl and just pulls them out to create his songs . Maybe it takes him "All Night Long" .

I'm a semi-Prince fan. I like Little Red Corvette; and 1999 is my all-time favorite. AND I love Brick House too....

I don’t think he hung the moon. I agree with JJ, he was a great guitarist. I can basically confine myself to hits (this one, “1999,” “Little Red Corvette,” and “Kiss”) and be content.
