Aubrey Johnson who is 11 years of age was honored by Catlettsburg Mayor Faith Day during at a council meeting n Tuesday by having Tuesday "Aubrey Johnson Day." Aubrey who likely learned CPR either in school or from her relatives used her life saving skills to save the life of her grandmother who suffered a heart attack at home. The name of the grandmother and date of the incident was not mentioned. Aubrey used CPR on her grandmother while they waiting for the ambulance to arrive at their residence. I am amazed that Aubrey knew what to do by using her life saving skills to save the life of her grandmother who would have died had her granddaughter not used her first aid skills to take care of her grandmother in her time of need. Aubrey deserves a day named in her honor by Mayor Day on Tuesday. Link is wowktv.com /news/kentucky/...

That is very true that an 11 year old girl saved the life of her grandmother using her first aid skills at such a young age.

I am in agreement with you that an 11 year old girl used her training in first aid to save the life of her grandmother.

Aubrey was really clever to keep her head enough to do CPR on her grandmother. Most kids would have panicked.

That is very true since the rule of thumb is to remain calm.

Perhaps, she had only learnt it recently, and so it was still fresh in her mind. Congrats to her though, for a job well done. I have learnt it at several times in my life, in various first aid courses, and the like, but after so many years, it is no longer fresh in my mind, and I would not be confident doing it now. They seem to change the procedure over the years too, which is not good for our memory, as it bemuddles the facts in our minds.

@Deepizzaguy Yes, even the treatment for snake bite has altered dramatically over the years too.

I know what you mean since if we do not work on what we know about first aid or anything, it does leave us. I do agree that when I was a child, the use of the Heimlich maneuver did not exist.
