PortaPotty Was Vandalized!

That is not the most tasteful title I have ever used, but it's true. My daughter has this hundred year old plus house in Portland (needed a lot of repairs when she bought it). She decided to remodel its one and only bathroom. She got some bids, picked out new tub, new toilet, tub surround, light fixture, sink, etc, hired a contractor and they began work last week. They began by demolishing the bathroom, so the contractor had a portable toilet in a little enclosure delivered. It sits in front of the house nearly on the street. My daughter goes to a friend's house to shower. On Wednesday, she had to go to her office. While she was gone, the PortaPotty was tagged (with paint) on both sides. she had a lock on it, but the vandal pried the handle mechanism off anway, so the lock was useless. The interior got messed up too. She was able to get the company to come out, clean & repair it, but feels very nervous about going out there after dark. I advised her to take a big knife along.. This will go on until next week sometime before they finish work.

I'm sorry to hear that happened at your daughter's property. You know, when my grandmother was a child, they had a chamber pot in the house to use after dark and when the weather was inclement.

I was going to suggest something similar - she could use something indoors so she doesn't have to go out there in the dark.

@Fleura I would certainly do that if going out was dangerous.

I wonder what they expected to find inside the potty? Breaking into it seems weird to me.

@JamesHxstatic With free bathrooms in gas stations and grocery stores? And to break into it is just strange.

@DaddyEvil There are so many homeless people roaming the streets, that free toilet use is hard to find. I agree, the guy must be a nutcase.

Maybe they wanted to use it? It was weird though. Broad daylight too.

@JamesHxstatic I know it's not exactly what we prefer, but better than to take risks.

Sorry to hear that happened. Is there no place to put a Porta Toilet say behind the house near the back door, so it is not on by the street?

The way her house sits, there is nowhere else to put it but right next to the sidewalk in front. The people she talked to about repair said it happens often in her neighbor hood.

Some people are just unpleasant. What do they get out of vandalizing a temporary toilet??

@Fleura She is home today. I hope nothing happens. People in Portland have little faith in the police.

No idea. I guess he wanted to use it? Maybe a homeless guy?

I was going to suggest a chamber pot at night but I see other guys have already mentioned it. Your daughter could empty It mornings in the the porta potty.. It might be dangerous go out there at night. Vandels might turn it over.

Yes it does, was not well built. I tried to warn her about it when she bought it.
