She shocked me

So, I managed to get to the writing group yesterday, and one of the people who attended is someone who lives in this zipcode. She was telling about an experience she had in a local church through a poem. I asked her if it was a true story and she said yes. I then discussed with her on the way out if she was looking for a church, I knew a good one. I had an ulterior motive, because I do, although I don't want to go there by myself. It's a long story..which I don't have time for right now. She said she would prefer a Unitarian church and I mentioned one not super far away in a Richmond burb. She said she was going to attend there, but wasn't able to because she hadn't been vaccinated against Covid! I was shocked. She is a liberal person with the same sort of mindset. I guess maybe there was a medical reason she is not..I have no idea. I know not everyone got vaccinated, but still, I found that shocking.

I have three friends that I used to hang out with all the time but they won't get vaccinated. They said they're scared of the vaccination... They keep inviting me up to visit them but Pretty says if they won't get vaccinated, then I don't dare go see them... and I agree with her. I can't take the chance of catching Covid.

People are strange, what can I say?? Now, my dad had a bad reaction to his booster, so he will get no more vaccines, but that is a rarity with the vast majority.

@snowy22315 Yeah, I know... I just wish people weren't strange about the vaccinations. Yeah, your dad shouldn't have any more... I hope he stays well.

@DaddyEvil He doesn't go out very much, just to the doctor's office every so often, and maybe when someone drags him out to eat or perhaps to see family or friends.

I won't go for any covid vaccination, they're no better than those damn flu shots. A lot of people won't get those vaccines.

I am sure there are some, but I wouldn't expect that with someone that has the same mindset. It could have been a medical reason she didn't get them.

There are many reasons not to get vaccines.

Flu shots have worked for me since I started taking them after a bad case. I got all Covid shots and will get more when needed.

Writing groups are interesting. I hope to find one nearby, but I do like my weekly virtualhop poetry work shop a lot.

@JamesHxstatic I am sure I am. I just wrote a book available on Amazon Unseen Party. Although I write, not sure I really consider myself a writer.

Boy, there are some characters in the one I go to. I don't know where they found those people, although they all seem fairly nice and are generally skilled writers or creatives.. (one is a cartoonist and the character in chief) what a piece of work. I guess maybe being a little off helps in the pursuit.

@snowy22315 Maybe so. I suspect I'm a bit off. What do you write?

You would be more than shocked if you were here. Hardly anyone I know got vaccinated And of those that did hardly any got boosters. And the take upnrate for the latest jab was only around 30%

The majority in this country have gotten at least one shot, but don't know the stats...in terms of having all of those requested, including keeping up with boosters it is much less.

@JimBo452020 It may be some other disgusting virus. They were interviewing an infectious disease doc on TV who said not only is a new virus outbreak probable it is inevitable, and it will be worse than Covid. Selfishly, I just hope it doesn't happen in my lifetime..

@snowy22315 Less in the news now. People have moved on. Let's hope COVID doesn't make a dramatic comeback

Lots of people here haven’t been vaccinated. In my house my oldest daughter and I am but not the rest.
