I honestly don't understand why anyone would want to raise a family in Florida these days

Florida governor Ron DeSantis has made culture wars a centerpiece of his administration. He's done the "Don't Say Gay" bill which now he wants to extend though 12th grade--so students get NO sex education in school during their middle school or high school yars. A principal was recently fired for allowing an art lesson that featured Michaelangelo's famous sculpture of David in the nude. The state of Florida is also banning books and lessons that mention slavery, the civil rights movement, discrimination, etc. I don't understand why or how teaching about Rosa Parks refusing to sit in the back of the bus could be controversial but now it is in Florida. What a hot mess. Florida students trying to go to out of state colleges and universities are going to be at a serious advantage. Hell even those who just graduate from high school (or who can't) will be fundamentally at a disadvantage.

It is so crazy what he and his GOP party are doing. to the people of that state. People who have brains must not vote at all there.

Lucky, I have nothing to do with the Florida educational system, It does worry me and I cannot understand why Florida would do this. Slavery is a crucial part of American history,

Republicans in the Florida legislature now want to bar girls of any age from talking about their periods in school. They also want to have tampon dispensers removed from women's public restrooms. These people have lost their minds. Florida has twice as many teacher vacancies as they had just two years ago. 100,000 Florida students are now without full-time teachers. No teacher in their right mind wants to move to Florida. And now Texas is reprimanding teachers for teaching students their Constitutional rights.

@TheSojourner Thanks to the whacko MAGA in the Florida legislature, I don't have to make this stuff up.

Yeah, I don’t understand the rationale behind all of those issues. It’s crazy for sure. Florida IS a great place to live, but apparently not a good place to go to school.

At one time I wanted to visit Florida. Not any more.
