Maintenance

Having a dream to own a spacious house, flat or bungalow is normal but once the dream is fulfilled there comes maintenance.
Every nook and corner needs maintenance. There is the daily chore, weekly, fortnightly, monthly and yearly.
The only daily chore here is taking care of the kitchen, buffet platforms and the dining table. Sweeping is done twice a week, swabbing once a week, dusting once a week, cobwebbing, as and when one sees the conwebs, washing the exeriors once a year. No painting as we have marble paste inside and marble chips outside
Monthly is when what is stored in cupboards and pantries is looked at, including the fridges.
The garden has a different schedule
What is your maintenance schedule for your dwelling?

I mop the floor of our bedroom, the kitchen and bathrooms every day, the others once a week. I dust once a week, remove the cobwebs when I see one. Every two months I wash the windows, the curtains twice a year is enough, there is very little dust here. Once a week I strip the bed and do laundry and I iron. Cooking is twice a day.

@allknowing - It does not take long if you have a clear schedule of what to do.

What needs to be cleaned everyday? There are so many sections that need attention and cleaning them everyday is not possible For example will you dust the whole house every day? So many rooms, so much furniture, etc.

@zhangxueying How many hours does one need to sweep and swab an area of 2000 sq ft. everyday
You must have a schedule

@allknowing Use a broom to sweep the floor of all rooms every day.For two or three days, use a mop to mop the floor of all rooms. The rest depends on the level of dirt and mood, and there is no fixed time

If there is no schedule here it will go haywire.

You are right. A big space comes with more cleaning and maintenance work. I too have a similar kind of schedule.. daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly, once in two months. Many a times, I struggle to stay on track.

@allknowing We do. I value my household help. I remember the struggle we had during lockdown.

I am not really that blessed but what I know is that when one is blessed with that kind of house there is more responsibility.

No point in just having a house but one should maintain it as well

@allknowing Well since all is new and updated, there isn't much to fix right now at least.
