No Chicken at KFC

My son stopped at a KFC last night because his girlfriend wanted chicken. The only thing they had was chicken pot pies. It seems strange that a chicken restaurant does not have fried chicken. Another time went to a waffle place that could not make waffles. I reminded them that waffle was in their name. It did not matter, they could not do it. I think the supply chain problem is getting worse. Every store we go to is out of things and we have to substitute something in its place. Are you finding any unusual shortages of basic items? Do you have a funny story about it? We would all love to hear it.

Yes, twice later in the day my husband and I have gone to Dunkin Donuts and they have been out of donuts. It was shocking.

@MarieCoyle When I posted this, I was not sure if it happened to other people. Well, I am finding out that we were not the only ones.

A friend went to a Long John Silver's in another city not long ago. They were out of fish. Um, why open if you are out of what your key item is? Makes no sense.

@RebeccasFarm I remember when Krispy Kreme opened a store in our city. We had to wait weeks to get some. The parking lot was always jammed with cars and they sold out fast every day.

A Krispy Kreme with no filling is a travesty. Of course, I'm kidding. When you have your heart set on a certain treat, you want it, no excuses.

I don't eat fast food, I think I would only if there was no choice. Last week, many people were angry here because all the local Burger King restaurants didn't have any hamburgers. It's a burger place. I get it that supply chains are messy and all, but wow! Our KFC places have all pretty much closed because they were run so poorly, but I did read online that the only one within driving distance to me had several days with no chicken. They had pot pies and chicken livers, that's it.

Wow! A burger place with no hamburgers fits right in with the KFC and the waffle house. Things are getting weird and I wonder how strange it will get.

It is not the worst thing that will ever happen but when you have been dreaming of fried chicken all day, it is disappointing.

They used to have the word, "chicken", in their name. The C part still means chicken. I know that it is not their fault but wow!

That and the waffle situation are really weird. That never used to happen that I know of. I can only imagine what that will do for profits and customer relations.

@akalinus Well, chickens for KFC mostly come from Missouri and Arkansas. Arkansas was hit especially hard by the bird flu earlier this year. It's possible they're still getting their stocks of chickens back up. (That's also the reason eggs were priced so high earlier this year.)

It really is. Things like that are happening more often now. Where do the restaurant supplies come from anyway?

@DaddyEvil The price of eggs is from price gouging. That is the only way to figure out why the price varies so much from place to place. I think they charge whatever they think they can get away with. I don't know what is going on with the chickens. It seems that there is usually an overabundance of chicken but not eggs. So strange.

No shortages here in Oregon, really, but the cereal aisle at Trader Joe's is a little anemic.

I'm glad all is normal in Oregon. Trader seems to have items that are missing at regular stores. We go there every so often.

Sometimes KFC will be out of chicken late in the day. I don't have any funny stories about shortages. Shortages are everywhere these days. It's sad. I feel like we're living in a third-world country.

@akalinus It happens. Here is a small samoss vendor. You can buy hot and tasty samosas from him.People mostly prefer to buy samosas from him.Once one of my friends from another city visited me .I wanted to treat him with the most tasty hot samosas from the vendor. But when I went to him;he told me that all the samosas he had prepared were already sold.

I stopped going to KFC a long time ago. The food is too greasy for my taste. I have noticed for over a year many items are not to be found and the prices are crazy.
