A Chilly Easter Morning

At some point last night, the propane in tank one ran out and the furnace shut down because somebody (me) forgot to open the second tank when we arrived in camp. So, guess what I was doing at 6 a.m. this morning? Luckily, it doesn't take long to warm the camper once the furnace is going. It was only 53F/11C when I woke up, it is already up to 66F/18C. Since I was up, I took the dogs out for their first walk. Unlike K, who takes them both at once, I took them one at a time, Sophie first. It meant more time in the cold but also more steps for me. The outdoor temp this morning is 40F/5C. Brrrr. Right now, I'm waiting for a cup of coffee to brew. What are your plans for today?

It was 44F in my part of Missouri at 6 am. I'm glad we don't have furbabies to take for walks. My fishies just need to be fed and talked with a little bit and they're good. My daytime plans are always to go to sleep since I stay awake all night... I hope you have a wonderful day.

We had a very good day today. Got lots of steps in taking the dogs on walks around the campground. Son2 and GF came for Easter Dinner. I was able to cook dinner on the grill outdoors since the sun came out and warmed things up. I'm looking forward to a good night's sleep.

@DaddyEvil The sound insulation is okay but not great. A lot of how much noise from other sites affects you is also based on the type of park you camp in. Here in the state park, as in most state parks in NC and VA, the sites are comparatively spacious, and the noises from other sites are less bothersome unless someone is being a real jerk with loud music or shouting, which is rare as the rangers don't play when it comes to such. In the better commercial campgrounds, the sites are closer together but the rules on quiet time are strictly enforced. After 10 pm things quiet right down. Those who won't follow the rules find themselves ejected from the park. Some campgrounds are more like parking lots, and you can hear the person in the next camper cough or sneeze. We avoid those campgrounds. I'll stay home before I reserve a site in one of them.

@DWDavis I'm glad you all had a good time. I'm assuming dinner was delicious. How good is the insulation for sounds in your travel trailer? If I was yelling outside, say at my own travel trailer, would that wake you up and keep you from going back to sleep?

@DWDavis I am glad. The last time I had problems (a short time ago) was because I could not open the big cylinder. I had to call the gas provider for help.

We knew we were in for a couple of wet, chilly days and did bring jackets and sweatshirts. Running the bottle of propane dry in the middle of the night was due to my oversight. Fortunately, the second bottle is full and will, hopefully, last the rest of the trip if it finally warms up as the forecasters say.

It has warmed up some, and we have sunshine instead of rain.

Our little apartment in Ireland has the heat on all the time. The landlady said to leave it on so we'd be comfortable but our bedroom gets a bit too warm so we might turn the heat off for a while when we go to bed.

I turn the heat down in the camper at night because I cannot sleep if it's warm in the bedroom. K sleeps under 2 blankets even in the summer. Having it cool in the bedroom doesn't bother her.

@DWDavis It's tricky coming to Ireland. We know it's going to be cold but sometimes you still need T-shirts indoors.

I am jealous that you can have some a cup of brewed coffee. I did some of the errands this morning and trying to survive my teaching stunt tonight.
