I Forgot

The campsite we are in has electric and water hookups but not sewer. Since we are staying here for an extended period of time, it will be necessary to drop the contents of our wastewater tanks into a portable "honey pot" and tow it to the drop station every few days. To do this, we hitch the honey pot to a ball hitch on the back of the pickup as it is too heavy to lift. The tank has a 36-gallon capacity (~120 liters), which translates into a weight of about 288 lbs (~130 kg). Because we have a 5th wheel hitch in the bed of our truck, we normally don't need a ball hitch unless we know we will be using the honey pot. For those times, we keep a ball hitch in the storage compartment under the rear seat of the truck. Only this trip, I forgot I had taken the old ball hitch out because I was replacing it with a new type over the winter. Somehow, being old and forgetful, I forgot to put the new hitch in the truck. Thus, I will either have to drive the 75 miles home to get it or visit the RV place a few miles down the highway and buy one there. Considering the cost of gas, it might be cheaper to buy one. The third option is for K to go by the house after work on Monday, her office is 1/2 between here and there, and pick it up. Ah, the joys of growing older. At least I can still remember what I forgot to remember the first time around once I realize I've forgotten it. Are you ever plagued with memory lapses?

My dad used to call it CRS, which stands for Can't Remember Syndrome, only he didn't use the word Syndrome.

At the moment, it looks like K will pick up the hitch from the house tomorrow. It will boost her martyrdom points and give her more to hold over my head.

*sigh* Yes, there are times I know I've forgotten something important and that drives me crazy... I will eventually remember what the "something" was but will it be soon enough that forgetting it the first time doesn't matter? That's the question and it makes my daughter mad when I forget something.

Yes, but I can't recall the last one.. My wife is still dealing with a bit of chemo brain after her cancer treatment, so she has a few too.

We are both becoming more and more forgetful now. We are forever each relying on the other.

K and I have gotten into a pattern of checking after each other. Sometimes it aggravates me, but I know it's necessary.

@DWDavis I keep saying it takes two of us to function nowadays but we are a good few years older than you and K.

Seems like something that would be easy to forget. I feel she will forgive you.

I think l would enjoy being at a campsite - with all the amenities in place. I remember some things from age four but yet l forget some recent things. It happens.
