A Song (maybe) No One Remembers

I have no idea why, but an old song called "Flip, Flop & Fly" floated into my head the other day. Written by Big Joe Turner & Charles E. Calhoun & recorded by Joe in 1955, it is a crazy up-beat bluesy number. Maybe a more recent version by the Blues Brothers was heard by a few myLotters. (See link) I just watched both of those versions and there are others too, but these two are lively and fun to hear. I love that bluesy harmonica intro!

@rakski The blues originated in the southern US among African-American people.

OMG! I remember the Blues Brothers version when dancing to it at my brother’s first wedding reception on a cruise around Manhattan. I even put on my black Ray Bans

Joe was a great blues singer and that song is so upbeat and jazzy.

It got pretty obscure until Blues Brothers gave it shot.
