And now, ladies and gentlemen, you see what sixty years have done to us. This song is now the big six-oh. OH! That’s not meant to make your back hurt (although it probably does…I know mine does ); rather, to point out the lasting power of music. Sing along. I Want to Hold Your Hand - The Beatles Yeah, yeah, yeah. The other day I mentioned that Capitol Records turned down the song “He’s So Fine” because it was too simple and trite. Then along came the Beatles with this (and “She Loves You”) and they realized just how well “simple” and “trite” sells. No, this isn’t “Yesterday,” “Let It Be,” or any of the later Beatles classics. But, as I said with the Stones, they all started somewhere. And, let’s face it, people who weren’t born 20 years ago (never mind 60 years) know this song. I Want to Hold Your Hand Written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney Recorded by The Beatles Released as a single, 1963 And when I touch you I feel happy inside:

I still have most of their albums in a shelf here. I'm selling some LPs on Discogs, but not theirs yet.

A great upbeat song with good rhythm and harmonies. I first heard the Beatles in early '64. A guy on the next bunk at MP school had a radio .

I think my brother had the “Eight Days a Week” 45, because that seems to be the first song of theirs I heard.

I prefer the more complicated songs of the "later" Beatles; but this brings back a lot of memories. They were such a big deal back then...and their music is still enjoyed today. Hope you are having a good weekend.

I’m having a good weekend. There was a “mid-point” in their career, between “Revolution #9” and this, where the songs were their best. My favorite Beatles album is still Revolver.

I love this song, even if it might be simple.

“Simple” but not simplistic. That’s why it’s endured for so long.
